Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
