And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 [Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled. 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
