۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 When he said to his father and his people, “What are these idols before whom you squat (worshipping)?” 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 He said: But this, their chief hath done it. So question them, if they can speak. 63 And so they turned upon one another, saying, "Behold, it is you who are doing wrong." 64 Then were they confounded with shame: (they said), "Thou knowest full well that these (idols) do not speak!" 65 He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act." 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75
