Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that day, man will be informed of all what he sent ahead and left behind. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Even though he were to put up his excuses. 15 (Muhammad), do not move your tongue too quickly to recite the Quran. 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And he will conclude that it was (the Time) of Parting; 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
