۞ When [Jesus] the son of Mary is held up as an example, your people raise an outcry on this, 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 He was no more than a servant: We granted Our favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel. 59 And if it were Our Will, We would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol: 25, Page 89]. 60 Verily he (i.e., Jesus) is a portent of the Hour. So be in no doubt concerning it and follow Me. This is the Straight Way. 61 and do not let satan prevent you, for he is your clear enemy. 62 When Jesus came with Clear Signs and said: “I have brought wisdom to you that I may make plain to you some of the things you differ about. So fear Allah and follow me. 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours – therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 Then the groups differed amongst themselves; therefore ruin is for the unjust by the punishment of an agonising day. 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 Friends on that day will be foes one to another, save those who kept their duty (to Allah). 67
