The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the mount 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the House inhabited 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the swollen sea 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
