He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
