۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
