The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right. 38
