In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 And those raging swiftly; 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 separating one from another, 4 By those who bring down the Reminder, 5 To cut off all excuses or to warn; 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 Thus, [it will come to pass] when the stars are effaced, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; 11 For what day has the term [of all this] been set? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 And We shall let them be followed by those of later times: 17 Thus do We deal with the sinful ones. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from an abject fluid? 20 and place it in a secure place 21 For a known extent. 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink of sweet water? 27 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 Depart unto the shadow three branched: 30 unshading against the blazing flame 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 Seeming like yellow camels. 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 This is a day in which they will not be able to speak. 35 Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 For what day is that time fixed? 39 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 40

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
