And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
