The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
