Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.
