The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night enshrouding 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
