The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And the Book written 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 And the elevated canopy 5 and the sea that is full 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
