He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 So you are after him! 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And hath fear, 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
