Al-Infitaar
Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven shall be cleft, 1 And when the stars have fallen and scattered; 2 and when the seas burst beyond their bounds, 3 when the tombs are overthrown, 4 Each soul shall know that which it sent afore and that which it left behind. 5 O man! what hath beguiled thee concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful, 6 Who created you, shaped you, and made you well-proportioned, 7 and set you in whatever form He pleased? 8 Even then you deny the Judgement. 9 And yet, verily, there are ever-watchful forces over you, 10 The honourable recorders. 11 Knowing all what you may do. 12 Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight. 13 and the wicked shall be in the Blazing Fire. 14 Roasted they shall be therein on the Day of Requital. 15 And they will not be able to keep away therefrom. 16 How can you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 17 Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is! 18 (It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah. 19
