The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
