The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 And the promised day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 THEY DESTROY [but] themselves, they who would ready a pit 4 the fire abounding in fuel, 5 When they sat by it (fire), 6 And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. 7 They took revenge on them only because they believed in the All-mighty, the Al-laudable, 8 Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness. 9 Those who persecute the believing men and believing women, and then do not repent, will surely suffer the punishment of Hell, and the torment of burning. 10 Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment. 11 Indeed the seizure of your Lord is very severe. 12 Verily He! He it is who beginneth and repeateth it. 13 And He only is the Oft Forgiving, the Beloved of His bondmen. 14 Master of the Honourable Throne. 15 He does what He intends (or wills). 16 Has not there come to you the story of the hosts, 17 Of Firon and Samood? 18 The unbelievers are indeed engaged in denying it, calling it a lie, 19 And Allah is after them, has them surrounded. 20 Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an, 21 upon an imperishable tablet [inscribed]. 22
