Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And by oath of ten nights. 2 by the odd and even (8th and 9th Dhil-hajj) 3 The night as it advances, 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- 6 (And) the tall giants of Iram? 7 the like of which was never created in the countries? 8 And with Thamud who carved rocks in the valley; 9 And with Firaun, who used to crucify. 10 who all were insolent in the land 11 And who then spread a lot of turmoil in them. 12 Thus, your Lord afflicted them with torment; 13 your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people). 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by exalting him and bestowing His bounties upon him, he says: “My Lord has exalted me.” 15 But when he tries him and stints for him his provision, then he says, 'My Lord has despised me.' 16 No indeed; but you honour not the orphan, 17 Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- 18 and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak, 19 and love the riches, loving them ardently. 20 But no; when the earth is ground to powder, 21 And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" 24 But on that Day none will punish as He (Allah) will punish, 25 and none can bind with bonds like His. 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 return to your Lord well pleased with him and He will be pleased with you. 28 Enter thou among My bondmen! 29 And enter thou My Garden. 30
