a multitude of the ancients, 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Surely they had lived before in luxury, 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 filling your bellies, with it 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 "We are ruined, 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 Have you ever considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74
