And We have not created the heaven and the earth and all that is between them without purpose; this is what the disbelievers assume; therefore ruin is for the disbelievers, by the fire. 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 [All this have We expounded in this] blessed divine writ which We have revealed unto thee, [O Muhammad,] so that men may ponder over its messages, and that those who are endowed with insight may take them to heart. 29 And We bestowed Sulaiman to Dawud; what an excellent bondman! He is indeed most inclined. 30 Behold, there were brought before him, at eventide coursers of the highest breeding, and swift of foot; 31 And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until the sun disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]." 32 (Then he said): Bring them back to me, and fell to slashing (with his sword their) legs and necks. 33 And verily We tried Solomon, and set upon his throne a (mere) body. Then did he repent. 34 He said, "O my Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom which, (it may be), suits not another after me: for Thou art the Grantor of Bounties (without measure). 35 So We subjected to him the wind blowing by his command, gently, wherever he directed, 36 and also the jinn, every kind of builder and diver 37 And also others bound in fetters. 38 We said: "This is Our gift, so give or withhold as you wish without reckoning." 39 And lo! he hath favour with Us, and a happy journey's end. 40
