I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning unto humankind 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 From the guilty. 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
