The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
