The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
