The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or orders piety? 12 What is your opinion if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
