The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
