The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
