And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
