Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 storming tempestuously 2 by (the angels) spreading (the words of God) far and wide, 3 Then separate them, one from another, 4 and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets) 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 And when the sky is split apart. 9 The mountains reduced to dust and blown away, 10 And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - 11 to what day shall they be deferred? 12 For the Day of Judgement. 13 How will you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients? 16 and let the latter follow them? 17 Thus do We deal with the criminals. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from a base fluid 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 for the living and the dead? 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 wherein there is neither shade, nor freeing from the blazing flames 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses. 36 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! 39 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 40
