Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a lofty garden, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
