The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
