The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
