Noah called to Us; and how excellent were the Answerers! 75 And We delivered him and his followers from the mighty distress. 76 and We made his seed the survivors, 77 We left mention of him among later generations. 78 Peace on Noah among all men. 79 Thus do We reward all those who do good. 80 For he was one of our believing Servants. 81 Afterwards We drowned the others. 82 ۞ And verily of his sect was Ibrahim. 83 He turned to his Lord with a sound heart 84 When he said to his father and his people: What is it that you worship? 85 Is it a falsehood - gods beside Allah - that ye desire? 86 "Then what do you think about the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?" 87 Then he cast a glance at the stars, 88 And he said: "Verily, I am sick (with plague. He did this trick to remain in their temple of idols to destroy them and not to accompany them to the pagan's feast)." 89 So they turned away from him, departing. 90 He then sneaked upon their deities and said, “Do you not eat?” 91 What is amiss with you that you do not speak?" 92 then he turned on them, striking them down with his right hand. 93 His people came rushing towards him, 94 He said: "Worship ye that which ye have (yourselves) carved? 95 when it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?" 96 They exclaimed: "Build a pyre for him, and cast him into the blazing fire!" 97 And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased. 98 And he said, “Indeed I shall go to my Lord Who will guide me.” 99 [And he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Bestow upon me the gift of [a son who shall be] one of the righteous!" 100 So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy. 101 And [one day,] when [the child] had become old enough to share in his [father's] endeavours, the latter said: "O my dear son! I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice thee: consider, then, what would be thy view!" [Ishmael] answered: "O my father! Do as thou art bidden: thou wilt find me, if God so wills, among those who are patient in adversity!" 102 When they had surrendered, and he flung him upon his brow, 103 And We called out to him, “O Ibrahim!” 104 You have indeed shown the truth of the vision; surely thus do We reward the doers of good: 105 Lo! that verily was a clear test. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times: 108 Peace be with Abraham. 109 Thus do We reward the good-doers. 110 Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves. 111 And [in time] We gave him the glad tiding of Isaac, [who, too, would be] a prophet, one of the righteous; 112 And We sent blessings upon him and Ishaq; and among their descendants – some who do good deeds, and some who clearly wrong themselves. 113
