He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
