The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
