The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
