Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 (Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me, 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret: 9 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 10 He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, 11 'And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers." 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 And surely He hath created you by stages. 14 "'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
