We created mankind from clay, molded from mud, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 except iblis (father of the jinn) who refused to be one of those who prostrated themselves. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 Said he, 'My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together, 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 It has seven gates; for each gate is a portion assigned from them. 44
