And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
