The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
