The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
