And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing), 10 and ask them, "Why do you not fear God?" 11 : He said: "O Lord, I fear that they will deny me. 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they shall slay me. 14 Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening. 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 "So allow the Children of Israel to go with us.' " 17 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. 18 And you commited what you did, and you are ungrateful!" 19 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 And [as for] that favour of which thou so tauntingly remindest me - [was it not] due to thy having enslaved the children of Israel?" 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 Moses replied, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you want to be certain". 24 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" 25 He said: your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers. 26 [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 (Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place thee among the prisoners. 29 Moses asked, "What if I were to bring you clear proof (of the existence of God)?" 30 (The Pharaoh) said: "Then bring it, if you speak the truth." 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it was white unto the beholders. 33
