The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
