The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
