He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
