Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
