The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
