The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
