The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Woe to every fault-finding back-biter, 1 who amasses wealth and counts it over and again. 2 He bethinketh that his wealth shall abide for him. 3 No indeed; he shall be thrust into the Crusher; 4 Would that you understood what that crushing torment is like. 5 It is a fierce fire created by God 6 Which mounteth up to the hearts. 7 Surely it shall be closed over upon them, 8 In outstretched columns. 9

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
